Concentrates are cannabis extracts that remove much of the plant material and retain a significantly higher proportion of cannabinoids and terpenes than flower. The result is a product that is far more potent by weight — and that requires different equipment, different dosing caution, and a different level of experience than other formats.
If you are new to cannabis or still building your experience with other formats, concentrates are generally not the recommended starting point. If you are curious, the lessons below explain the landscape in detail — and a SOL budtender can help you evaluate whether concentrates are appropriate for where you are in your experience.
| Type | Extraction Method | Typical THC % | Equipment Required | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kief | Dry sieve (mechanical) | 25–60% | Can be sprinkled on flower | Gradual intro to higher potency |
| Hash / Bubble Hash | Ice-water (mechanical) | 30–60% | Can be smoked or dabbed | Traditional concentrate format |
| Rosin | Heat + pressure (solventless) | 50–80% | Dab rig or concentrate vape | Solvent-free, full-spectrum experience |
| Live Rosin | Fresh-frozen → ice-water → heat/pressure | 65–85% | Dab rig or concentrate vape | Premium terpene preservation |
| Live Resin | Fresh-frozen → hydrocarbon extraction | 65–85% | Dab rig or concentrate vape | Strong terpene profile at lower price |
| Wax / Shatter / Badder | Hydrocarbon or CO₂ extraction | 60–90% | Dab rig or concentrate vape | Wide availability, many textures |
| Distillate | Post-processing distillation | 80–99% | Vape pen or dab rig | High potency, neutral flavor |
